| Old Hickory Council Hires New Assistant Ranger for Camp Raven Knob Graham Baucom, an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor recipient, has been hired to serve as Assistant Ranger for Camp Raven Knob. Graham is a graduate of North Carolina State University, with a degree in Psychology. He served four years in the U.S. Navy as an Avionics Technician. He grew up in Winston-Salem, and held a number of positions on the Camp Raven Knob staff prior to his military service. Graham, his wife, and their two children will be moving to Surry County from Raleigh.
In his new role, Graham will work with Camp Ranger Dave Whitfield to develop and maintain Camp Raven Knob and other council properties. The new position of Assistant Ranger was identified as a need in the Old Hickory Council’s long-range plan for 2004-08. The phenomenal growth and continued popularity of the camp has been cause for increased upkeep and development of infrastructure and equipment. The addition of this new position will help maintain the camp as one of the premier Boy Scout facilities in the nation.
