| Hawaii State Moped Rules & Regulations |
1. A driver must not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs!
2. A moped driver must have a valid driver's license.
3. A moped driver must be 15 years or older, 18 for out of state drivers.
4. Parents of guardians are responsible for minor moped drivers.
5. Traffic laws apply to persons driving mopeds.
6. A moped must not be driven on a freeway or interstate highway.
7. No passenger may be carried on a moped.
8. Mopeds may not be driven on a sidewalk, nor any other place intended for the exclusive use of pedestrians.
9. A moped must be driven as near to the right edge of the roadway as is practicable.
10. A moped must not be driven at a speed greater than 30 miles per hour.
11. Mopeds must be driven in single file.
12. Mopeds must use bicycle lanes where provided on roadway.
13. Mopeds may use bicycle paths except where it is prohibited by signs.
14. A moped driver must ride astride the seat, facing forward, with a leg on each side of the moped.
15. A moped must not be driven when attached to any vehicle.
16. You must wear eye protection.
